I am writing to you today to offer my sincerest apologies for the behaviour of my other self throughout the past month. Although I don't recall insulting you directly, I was close enough to your social circle that I fear my very existence was grating enough.

I assure you that I am now what I was previously: a (I hope) relatively stable Englishman from 1848 and not a bitter drunkard who will text you at some ungodly hour to discuss 'twinks.'

Oh, was that the hydration? That is good advice for life in general!

I am currently apologising to most everyone I spoke to throughout June, and hoping that those unfortunate to have witnessed my memories are not suffering any mental anguish.

As well as can be expected.

You did the best you could, I'm sure. I hope nobody is holding it against you. With spells like that, one can become quite lost and get up to all sorts of things that you would never even consider on a normal day. I should think that most people will understand that you weren't yourself.

Do you have much experience with this sort of occurrence, then?

Unfortunately, yes. Dealing with dark magic occasionally means losing one's wits. Or memories. Or becoming convinced that you are someone else, or from another time. At least we weren't all turned into demons, I suppose.

it is extremely strange to think you are from another time. I feel as if I've watched a particularly educational film in some ways.

Is the demon situation also common?

I'm glad to say it's not, just rather memorable.

Do you think you'll be making use of your newfound knowledge?

I must ask, what does one do in those cases? Find a priest, I assume.

Anything I can remember of medicine, perhaps, should the need arise. Otherwise I don't think much of it was useful.

Usually it's just a matter of weakening the demon and reversing the spell or ritual responsible. Priests are often remarkably ineffective against demons. Many species predate Judeo-Christian belief systems and find the entire thing amusing at best. If you see a demon, it's best to either hit it with something very hard, or run in the opposite direction as fast as possible.

Are all supernatural entities possessing of a physical body?

Sadly not. But of those who do, physical violence is remarkably effective. Existence on the mortal plane often requires sacrifices.

We are fortunate to have you here; you are quite the scholar on the supernatural. Just in case we come across something we can't just hit with a vase.

Well, I'm sure Stephen is also very capable of dealing with anything that can't be pummelled to death.

I assume you'll also be reaching out to him?

Oh, I have, yes. He's been very gracious about the whole mess.

Are you close here as well?

Not before our recent adventures. But it seems as though we might have just given ourselves something of a head start. It's good to have someone around with a similar level of life experience.

Oh, yes, it is! I'm very lucky in that my suitemate is in his thirties. Not that I wish to downplay the admittedly full lives of the younger guests, but I was starting to feel ancient indeed in comparison.

(Not counting the immortal guests, of course.)
